From factory to farm. From factory to energy.

When Food-to-Feed Isn’t the Right Route.

Aniras UK connects food manufacturers with two complementary national recovery networks — livestock feed and anaerobic digestion.

One manufacturer. Two recovery networks.

Not Everything Is Waste

Every food manufacturing operation will have material that cannot appropriately become animal feed. The answer should not automatically be disposal. We assess the material first, then identify the most appropriate authorised recovery route.

01 — FEED

Livestock Recovery

Where a co-product is suitable and compliant, we connect it with our nationwide livestock animal-feed network.

02 — ENERGY

Anaerobic Digestion

Where material cannot appropriately enter feed, suitable organic streams can be directed to our national AD network.

03 — VALUE

Resource Recovery

The goal is to maximise recovery, minimise disposal and protect the commercial and environmental value of the material.

Two Networks. One Recovery Strategy.

From Factory to Farm

Suitable food and manufacturing co-products are collected and supplied through our livestock network.

From Factory to Energy

Appropriate non-feed organic material can be coordinated into our national Anaerobic Digestion network.

One Network. Two Recovery Pathways.

The visual story is simple: suitable material goes to livestock feed; material that cannot appropriately enter the feed route can, where authorised and suitable, move into anaerobic digestion.

What Happens Inside an AD Plant?

Anaerobic digestion is a natural biological process in which organic material is broken down in a sealed environment without oxygen. The process captures the energy in the material as biogas.

01

Assessment

Material, origin, composition and classification are reviewed.

02

Collection

Aniras coordinates the movement from the manufacturing site.

03

Digestion

Microorganisms break down organic matter without oxygen.

04

Energy

Biogas can be used for renewable electricity, heat or biomethane.

Two Networks. One Purpose.

Factory to Energy – Anaerobic Digestion

Our livestock network remains central to Aniras. The AD network sits alongside it, giving manufacturers another appropriate recovery pathway for material that cannot enter feed.

Organic recovery - Biogas - Renewable Energy

From unavoidable material to useful energy

Biogas

Organic material produces biogas which contains recoverable energy.

Renewable Energy

Depending on the facility, biogas can support electricity, heat or biomethane production.

Digestate

Subject to the required controls and quality standards, digestate can support nutrient recovery for agriculture.

Our Proposition

"The question isn't simply how do we dispose of this? It is what is the best recovery route for this material?"

The right route for the right material

Where a manufacturer’s co-product is classified as an Animal By-Product (ABP), its category, regulatory status and permitted end use must be established before selecting the recovery route. Where an ABP or other organic material cannot appropriately enter the feed chain but is suitable for an authorised AD route, Aniras UK can coordinate its movement through the appropriate network.
